Mammotion LUBA 2 vs LUBA 3 AWD: what changed?
Both climb 80% slopes with all-wheel drive. The LUBA 3 adds LiDAR and drops the base station on most variants. The LUBA 2 went bigger, up to 2.5 acres, but it's now out of stock at Mammotion.

Navigation is the real upgrade
The LUBA 2 finds its position with RTK. You set up a reference station antenna with a clear view of the sky, and cameras help it spot obstacles. Under heavy tree cover or close to tall walls, RTK signal can drop.
The LUBA 3 adds 360° LiDAR, which measures the garden around it directly and doesn't need satellites. The 3000 and 5000 variants also use Mammotion's NetRTK service over mobile data, so there's no antenna to install. The Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD 1500 skips RTK entirely and runs on LiDAR and cameras. Our RTK vs LiDAR guide explains the trade-offs.
Same climbing, same deck
Slope rating (80%, 38.6°) and cutting width (15.7 in) are the same on both generations. If your lawn is open and steep, the LUBA 2 does the same job at the same slope.
Which to buy
- Trees, walls or a tight plot: LUBA 3. LiDAR is what keeps it working where satellite signal drops.
- Open lawn, and a LUBA 2 well below $2,599: a clearance or second-hand LUBA 2 can make sense. Check the warranty first.
- More than 1.25 acres: no LUBA 3 is rated for it. Look at the Segway Navimow X390 (2.5 acres).
